CONDITIONS TERRIBLE AS BLAIR LOOK GOOD!

25/08/12: Lydd Town 2 Hollands & Blair 4

Lydd's early season two game unbeaten run came to an end today against a well organised and decent Hollands and Blair team who will be battling for promotion this season.

In horrible conditions Blair were two up by half time and despite Darren Winfield pulling one back, the game was over when Blair scored two more in the last 15 minutes. Si Ewins scored Lydd's late second but all to no avail. Next up is Ashford on Bank Holiday Monday!

SET-PIECE ASHFORD SCRAP TO VICTORY!

28/08/12: Lydd Town 1 Ashford United 3

A much improved performance from Lydd Town saw them unfortunate to not gain something from their wealthy neighbours.

Lydd created the better chances throughout the game with the Ashford keeper much the busier.

Lydd took the lead after just two minutes when Billy Somerville rifled an unstoppable shot at the very edgy Ashford keeper. Ashford ended up leading at half-time when they scored in quick succession from a corner and then from a dubious free-kick, where an initial Ashford foul had been missed.

Lydd then missed a crucial penalty on the stroke of half time when Kieran Byrne hit the post and then a nasty tackle from the Ashford skipper gave the game a different twist which the referee unfortunately struggled to control.

Wes Foord missed a great chance in the second half whilst Byrne got a good save from the visiting keeper - whilst Matt Burt in the home goal continued to spend the second half as a spectator.

Ashford secured the victory in the 90th minute with a "penalty" right at the death. A disappointing decision with clearly no contact between goalkeeper and player.
