Match Report written by Andy Lane, Ladies Manager
What a cracking result for the ladies in horrible conditions.
A game of two halves, which it was always going to be in that weather.
Lydd started with the wind behind them, but it took a while to get used to the conditions.
This allowed Bettshanger a couple of half chances which Harris dealt with comfortably.
In the 16th minute , good interplay down the left between Cuff
& Williams resulted in Conceicao latching onto the ball and putting it past the keeper for 1-0.
That settled Lydd down and the football got better.
On 22 minutes some slick passing in the midfield put Matthews through and she calmly slotted it into the corner. 2-0.
A couple of chances went begging then on 30 mins Phillips played Conceicao in , who crossed for Matthews to tap into an empty net for her second.
Bettshanger kept the defence on their toes with some good counter attacks but Lydd kept them out.
Half time and the weather seemed to get worse !!
Some enforced changes saw a reshuffle at the back. The second half was always going to be difficult into the 60mph wind.
But a change in formation meant extra bodies in midfield.
This was about determination to keep the clean sheet and close down and harry, so Bettshanger didn’t have time to pick a decent pass.
Lydd certainly did that by limiting Bettshanger to only half chances and trying to hit them on the counter attack.
A deserved three points for the Ladies which pushes up the table.
Big cup game next week.
A big thank you to the mascots and supporters who braved the weather to support the Ladies today.
