Match Preview vs Banstead from Dexter!

Lydd Town Football Club12 Sep - 13:32

Lydd Town First Team

Ahead of Tomorrow’s fixture against Banstead FC (a)
our media team at Lydd Town caught up with manager Dexter Gondongwe!

Q1) How are you? & How have you found your first opening games?

“It’s been a tougher start than I would have liked. We’ve identified areas, both on and off the pitch, where we need to improve, and we’re working hard on that — whether it’s on the field or behind closed doors trying to bring in the right personnel to fit our squad and playing style.

Q2) What are you expecting from Tomorrow’s game?

Tomorrow’s game will be a real dogfight. We’ve been hit by a storm of injuries and are down to the bare bones. Both teams are desperate to pick up points to move away from the relegation zone and establish ourselves as playoff contenders.

Q3) Just to keep the fans in the loop, How long will Club Captain Connor Coyne & Goalkeeper Joe Munden be out for?

The skipper’s rehab is going well, but we most likely won’t see him back on the pitch until early November. It’s a tough blow for the team, but Connor is fully focused on coming back stronger and more determined than anyone. Even just having his presence on the sideline has been a huge lift for us.

It’s still too soon for Mundo. He was back in training this week and looked sharp, but with neck and concussion injuries it’s always best to play it safe. We’re aiming for the Vase game as a potential return for him.

Q4) Are you looking forward to the FA Vase in the upcoming weeks?

The magic of the Vase is something that’s always excited me — the chance to play at Wembley, the long away trips with the fans on the coach. Those are the things that make the competition special. It will be a tough away trip, but I have faith the lads will show up when it matters”

We would like to thank Dexter for answering our questions and wish him luck for the upcoming games.
