As we get ready for this weekends first team action at home, our media team caught up with manager Dexter Gondongwe!
Q - What's your thoughts on the season so far?
It's been a tougher season, as I've said to everyone beforehand, just because we've not had a consistent squad from the 16 throughout, from the first game to the 10th last weekend. But it's about building the right foundations as a team, making sure that we get the right principles right for when we do have new members come in and make our squad stronger and building on that every single week and becoming better, better unit every week.
Q - Any updates on the squad?
The squad at the moment is last couple of weeks, we've looked thin on the ground and that's been with injuries cropping up, with people being away, holidays, work, whatever it may be. But this week we're looking back to full strength. People coming back, people that work normally on weekends, are back for a couple of weeks now. So we're looking at a much stronger base. So you're looking at Travis is going to be back this weekend. Billy Robin is going to be back as well to strengthen us in midfield. In the field. And also in a forward area, it's got people who come back and know. So it should be all right.
Q - What's the injury list looking like?
At the moment, the injury list, Al Coyne comes off it, which is massive for us. His experience, leadership is massive. He comes off it, looking to come back into the side on Saturday. But Coyne, he still stays... Well, Captain Connor Coyne, he still stays on the injury list, trying to nurse him back, because what we don't want is to rush him back and then we lose him for the rest of the season. But we should see him hopefully early November looking to get him back then. Brilliant.
Q - Any message for the fans?
Just get down here and support the team. The team's been away for a couple of weeks. A long away stint. So we want to get back to winning ways because we've gotten a couple of weeks without winning the game. The performances have been there, there, near there. But it's about getting the fans right behind us and making sure that we can put a performance from them. Because I remember the last time we played to him back down here was in the playoff final, and we had over 200 here, and that was massive for us, and that was the reason why we won it. So long time ago, but it's about building a good relationship with the fans and making sure that they understand that the boys will run every single minute for them and make sure that we want to support them and give them everything we can.
Brilliant. Thanks, Dex. No worries.
