Lydd Town Reserves welcomed Tenterden Town Reserves to Lindsey Field for their first home game of the season, looking to put in a strong performance in front of the home supporters.

Despite the 4–0 scoreline, there were plenty of positives to take from the afternoon, with Lydd producing a much-improved display and showing greater determination, effort and attacking intent.

The lads worked hard throughout the game and created opportunities of their own, but unfortunately, lady luck was certainly not wearing a Lydd shirt today!

On several occasions throughout both halves, Lydd came agonisingly close to getting on the scoresheet, only to see efforts crash against the crossbar and the post. The woodwork seemed to have a personal vendetta against the Lydd forwards, with the ball somehow refusing to find its way into the back of the net!

Had a couple of those efforts gone in, it could have made for a very different afternoon and given the lads the reward their attacking play deserved.

At the other end, Tenterden proved more clinical in front of goal, taking their opportunities and eventually coming away from Lindsey Field with all three points after scoring four goals.

While the result is disappointing, it's important to recognise the improvement in Lydd's performance. Football is not always about the result on the scoreboard, and there were encouraging signs that the team is moving in the right direction.

The lads can take confidence from the chances created and the number of times they threatened the opposition goal. With a little more luck and composure in front of goal, those near misses can hopefully turn into goals in the coming weeks.
Of course, there is still plenty of work to do, and nobody at the club will be dressing up a 4–0 defeat as anything other than a disappointing result. However, the improvement in performance gives the squad something to build on as the season continues.

A big thank you to everyone who came down to Lindsey Field to support the Reserves. Your support is always appreciated, home and away.
We dust ourselves down, get back to work on the training pitch and go again next week. The effort is there, the chances are coming, and the lads will be determined to turn these performances into points.
